Siza understands that life can get overwhelming and challenging at times, hence acknowledges that you don’t have to do it all alone. She is one of those people who can give you a listening ear without judgement yet you gain some practical life skills and solutions. She became a Counsellor as she loves helping people and has active listening skills influenced by her faith, values and ethics to make a difference in society.
Siza has 6 years’ experience as a Social Worker and 4 years’ experience as a Counsellor / Therapist in mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence, trauma, parenting management, grief and loss with the aim of supporting individuals and families address the ongoing impact of complex trauma and promote sustainable change and functioning for the future.
Philosophy & Approach
Siza utilises evidenced based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, Narrative Therapy (NT), Person-Cantered Therapy (PCA) , Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Relaxation Techniques, Skills Training, Interpersonal Therapy. Siza values Multicultural competence (MC) as she values diversity by embracing everyone regardless of age, race, ethnicity, disability, religion and gender as each individual is unique thereby being culturally competent. Moreover, she values and implements a therapeutic collaborative relationship with a client whereby she works with them to come up with effective therapy goals. Collaboration is important as it empowers clients to be in control of the situation (self-determination) which is an important skill for their everyday lives.
